Compass Back to Community

A gentle, guided path for stepping back into social life after loss - at your pace, on your terms.

jAfter loss, showing up to a coffee date, a family dinner, or a Tuesday night meeting can feel like climbing a mountain in the dark. Compass Back to Community gives you the map, the pacing, and the boundaries to reconnect without depleting yourself.

Who this program is for

This program is for you if:

  • You’ve withdrawn from social life since your loss, and getting back feels overwhelming.

  • You want to reconnect, but you don’t know where to start or how much you can handle.

  • You’ve tried to “just push through” a social event and left feeling worse than when you arrived.

  • You have relationships that are safe, some that are complicated, and some that drain you… and you need a way to sort them.

  • You want a real plan, not just “be gentle with yourself.”

  • You need language for boundaries that doesn’t require you to explain your grief every time.

What we do together

Compass Back to Community is a structured, six-stage process - and depending on where you’re starting, you can enter at the beginning or go all the way through implementation and refinement.

Together we’ll:

  1. Understand where you are now: We start by mapping your current social landscape - what feels manageable, what feels overwhelming, and what’s happening when you’ve tried to reengage since the loss.

  2. Sort your relationships: Not everyone in your life belongs in the same tier right now. We organize your people into three clear tiers so you know where to spend your limited energy:

    • Tier 1 - Safe Harbor: People who understand grief, offer unconditional support, and feel completely safe.

    • Tier 2 - Supportive: People who mean well but sometimes miss the mark.

    • Tier 3 - Challenging: People who matter, but whose interactions are currently draining, triggering, or complicated.

  3. Rank what’s easy and what’s not: We list social activities from least to most challenging - considering duration, number of people, structure, emotional weight, and how much recovery time each one costs you.

  4. Build your boundaries: We create the exact language you’ll use to protect your energy - what topics you’re open to, what you’re not, and how you signal when you need a pause. No more freezing when someone asks “How are you really doing?”

  5. Turn the plan into concrete steps:‍ ‍(Steady Progress Tier) We convert each reengagement goal into a specific action step - who, what, prep, recovery, boundaries, and small success markers - nothing is left to willpower in the moment.

  6. Reflect and adjust: (Steady Progress Tier). After each reengagement attempt, we use a short, repeatable reflection routine so your plan evolves based on what actually happened - not what you hoped would happen.

A note on scope:

Compass Back to Community is a grief-informed coaching program. It’s not therapy, counseling, or crisis care. If what you’re carrying feels bigger than social reengagement - deep depression, trauma symptoms, thoughts of hurting yourself - please reach out to a therapist, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). I’ll help you find the right kind of care if you’re not sure where to start.
